General Cable Announces Management Change

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky., Jun 09, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --General Cable Corporation (NYSE: BGC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Emmanuel Sabonnadiere as Chief Executive Officer and President of the Europe and Mediterranean region and Executive Vice President of General Cable Corporation effective July 1, 2010. Emmanuel will succeed Domingo Goenaga, who will remain with the company as an Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of our European holding company. He will assist Emmanuel in the transition and will join the boards of a number of other General Cable investments and operating companies around the world, building on Domingo's more than 45 years of leadership and demonstrated results in the wire and cable industry.

Emmanuel has a MBA, as well as a PhD in physics and nearly 20 years of senior management experience in energy transmission and distribution with Schneider Electric and Alstom. Emmanuel joined General Cable two years ago as Managing Director of our Silec operations in France and recently became Chairman of the Board of our Algerian business.

According to Chief Executive Officer Gregory B. Kenny, "The company continues to leverage European skills in high voltage and undersea cables as well as process and material science know-how across the globe. At the same time, General Cable will continue to look for ways to expand its presence in the Europe and Mediterranean region including Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
